On February 21, 2014 the boys' bio sister was born. She weighed 7 lbs 9 oz and was 20 inches long. Because of circumstances between her birth mom and dad she was immediately placed in foster care. Kendall and I felt strongly about adopting her. But working with foster care in Minnesota and us living in Idaho, would be an obstacle we would have to jump through. For the first week it was nearly impossible for us to talk to anyone. I was feeling despair and Kendall and I decided to go the temple and pray about our course of action. I felt very strongly that we were the ones that were suppose to fight for her. A few days later we received a phone call from Sarah, Maelee's caseworker. She explained that there were obstacles and she couldn't promise us anything but that we would indeed be considered a choice for an adoption as they like to keep biological siblings together. That was another answer to prayers.
Sarah sent us these pictures when Maelee (the name we picked for her) was a little over a week old.
We sent her foster family some gifts and clothes for Maelee and a little note.
This is Maelee with her stuffed elephant.
What a sweet girl. How badly I just want to reach in a touch her and kiss her.
