Christmas

This year we were lucky enough to celebrate Christmas for a week!

We started last week when Kendall's sister Shannon came up from Utah and to stay with us.
They use to live in Amman, Jordon, in the Middle East. So they made us a traditional Middle Eastern meal.

As you can see from Madeline's face the taste of new food didn't quite suit all of us. She did enjoy the hummus though.

This is our niece Grace. She is the cutest little thing and she loves having her picture taken.

On to Christmas Eve.

We went to my mom and dad's house and had dinner and watched a movie.

Madeline opened the traditional Christmas Eve gift... pajamas.

Here she is sporting her new duds.

Derek was so excited to wrap Mom's present in duct tape.

He used half the roll just for her.

Later on we decided to pin my brother Landen down and wrap him up with duct tape.

We have some really good times! ;-)

Madeline thought it looked like fun so she decided to join in.

Christmas Day!

Madeline didn't wake up until 8:00 am!!! It was killing me! Kendall and I kept looking at each other wondering if she was ever going to get up. Usually she us up by 7, and sometimes as early as 6:30. But every Christmas she decides to sleep in! I do not understand. When I was a kid we were always up by 3 am.
Madeline asked Santa for the Barbie Dream House. She was worried that she hadn't been good enough for it, but apparently Santa thought other wise.

When we showed up at my parent's house we arrived to a crazy skinny man wearing Santa's undershorts and a gun.

Welcome to Hickville.

My mom has been so excited to give Madeline her gift. She has been giving her hints for MONTHS. Torture for a five year old.

So what is it?

Photobucket
Yes sir... it is a bird bath.

As you can see Madeline wasn't quite sure why she got a bird bath.
My mom thought it was hilarious.
Photobucket

Madeline was gracious and started thinking of good ways to use it.
It could be a barbie pool,
a toy holder,
a decorative stand.
The possibilities are endless.
And then she remembered that her Grammie had a bird bath and
suddenly it was okay.

Well almost.

My two favorite people.

Christmas at my parent's.... it is a mess because there are gifts EVERYWHERE!

Check out my new shirt that Madeline picked out.
Didn't she do an awesome job?
Photobucket

My mom surprised my dad with a "new" four wheeler. He loves it, but all the kids loved it more. He is hoping he gets a chance to ride it. Bring on the summer camping/four wheeling trips!!
Photobucket

And last but not least the best gift of all..
My mother in law received
a
Toilet.

Photobucket

And she loved it!
But Madeline was pretty sure that she must have been on the naughty list to receive such a thing.

Thanksgiving and a Girls night!

We had an awesome Thanksgiving this year. We hosted it for my family and
Kendall and I made the turkey, stuffing, gravy and a yummy cranberry sauce.

A great big thank you to my brother Derek for the mashed potatoes,
and my mom for the veggies and rolls!

My grandma pulled through with the yams and marshmallows and the pie!

It was a lovely meal and great company.

The whole group except for my sister Anna and her boyfriend Scott. She had
to go and get the flu and couldn't make it. But Scott managed to arrive later for
for some leftovers.

Look at all that scrumptious food!

Girl's Night!!

My friends Courtney and Candice had a birthday last week and so
we got a few of us together for a night out with no kids and
we had a ball!
These are my friends Courtney and Christine. Candice couldn't make it
since she had to go and have a baby last week!

We tried a new restaurant and it was so good! Then we went shopping and
before we knew it the evening was over.
We are definitely going to have to do it again and soon.

Photobucket

I ordered the duck and it was so yummy.
Our waiter was hilarious. I didn't know this but apparently
you can order duck rare.
No thanks.. I want mine done well! The waiter told
me that duck wasn't worth having if it wasn't rare.
We compromised with only slightly pink.
I don't handle bleeding meat on my plate all that well.

Madeline was disappointed that she wasn't invited.
Oh well... she was happy to see me when I got home!

The REAL boss

Photobucket

We had brought home some chocolate eggs for Madeline and she wanted to eat both of them.

She had asked her dad and he told her that she needed to wait to eat the other egg.

Pretty soon she came up to me and said "Mom, since you are the REAL boss... can I eat this

egg?"

What a little turkey!

BTW- Doesn't she look so much older in this picture?
I think I came home to a grown up little girl!

Mexico!

Kendall and I just got back from an amazing trip to Mexico to celebrate
our seventh anniversary!

It was so fun. The first night we just walked around Cancun and
enjoyed the city.

Photobucket

They had an amazing outdoor mall.

Kendall and I spent a few evenings there because it was so much fun.
They had a river that went through it so Kendall and I rented a paddle boat and
paddled around the mall.
Photobucket
They had performances at the mall, this one was Phantom of the Opera.
Photobucket

On Sunday we went to church and then we just laid out on the beach. The resort we
stayed at was awesome. The food was incredible and we could eat whenever we
wanted.
Photobucket

The beach had lost a lot of it's sand from the hurricane, so this boat was out taking
sand from the bottom of the ocean and putting it back on the beach.

Photobucket

On Monday we went to a Mayan village called Tulum.

The beach at Tulum was incredible! So beautiful.
Photobucket

This was a cenote, ( big cave with a pool of water ).
You could go swimming in it. The bottom was 150 feet down!

This was the day we went to Chichen Itza. They had an amazing buffet lunch and
a performance.
These guys were dancing with bottles on their heads and not once did they loose them.
Photobucket

This is Chichen Itza. A very huge Mayan city.
Photobucket

This is where they would play the ball game and then sacrifice the winners.
With the upper class
babies they would cross their eyes and flatten their head and put rocks in their teeth.
That was so people would know they were upper class just by looking at them.

The upper class were the most likely to get sacrificed. In the Mayan world
I think I would want to be a poor loser.

We went Para Sailing on Thursday. It was so fun!

Photobucket

Photobucket

See that tiny speck in front?
That is another para sailer and they are a lot lower than we were.
Photobucket
Our tiny boat.

Photobucket
Notice my death grip. We were not strapped in to anything.
According to the guy running it "no straps, it is more fun that way!".
What are you kiddin me!?!
Photobucket
That night we went to 'New Moon', the day before everybody in the U.S.!!
And look nobody was there and it only cost us $3 each!

A little while later about 4 men walked in. ;-)
Photobucket

This was our last day and we went to Xcaret.
They had an underground river you could go snorkeling in.
Snorkeling completely freaked me out!
So I just floated.
Photobucket

This was the coolest Mexican cemetery. They had little houses on top of the graves.

This was the big show at Xcaret.
They played a game of hockey with a fire ball.
Photobucket

Then they had performances from each part of Mexico. It was really neat.
Photobucket

On the way to the airport our travel company picked us up in a limo.
The driver could tell we were pretty darn excited so he offered to take a picture!
