Family Night

One Monday evening we went for a walk around the greenbelt.  It was a gorgeous evening and we knew it was going to be the last warm day for a while so we went out and enjoyed it.  When we got back we went out and laid out on the trampoline and watched the stars and Madeline fell asleep (bonus).

Did you know that Kendall could walk on water?  And no, he wasn't cut and pasted.  He really has that much faith.  ;-)
I love these two!

Donut recipe

Here is the donut recipe for those that want it. It made about 3 cookie sheets full.
Next time I would half the recipe.

Potato Donuts

3T yeast
1/2 cup cold water
3/4 cup sugar
4 eggs
 2 c. mashed potatoes
1 cup shortening or oil
1 qt. milk
1 T. salt
12-14 cups of flour

In a small bowl dissolve the yeast in the cold water. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl combine the eggs, sugar, shortening/oil, salt, mashed potatoes, and milk. Add yeast mixture. Add flour. Mix. Let raise about 1 hour. Roll to approximately 1/2 in thick. Place on wax paper with flour on it for easy removal. Fry in 1/2 inch to 1 inch oil, 350 degrees until golden brown. Top with glaze.

Glaze:
2lbs powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter
boiling water
Mix in enough boiling water until glaze is at desired consistency.

I just rolled mine in powdered sugar, and then frosted chocolate cake frosting on the others.

Motorcycle rides and donut parties

On Friday Madeline and I invited a bunch of friends over for a homemade donut party.  We had a blast making jelly donuts, powdered sugar donuts and chocolate donuts.    Our little friend Gage held the record because he ate 5 WHOLE donuts.  He is only two but he sure packed them away.   While we had a donut party, Kendall went out with the boys for a motorcycle ride in the mountains.   Well pictured below is the aftermath of donut parties and motorcycle rides.  Who knew that both would result in a mustache and goatee.
Kendall's was much more visible in real life.

Quote of the day

I was taking Madeline to the bathroom and this is a habit I have been trying to break.  The deal was when she turned four she was supposed to do this by herself.  She went by herself for about 1 or 2 days and then decided she didn't like that.   Well today as she threw a fit for me to take her to the bathroom.
I asked  "What happened to my big girl that went to the bathroom by herself?".
She replied "She died.".

Our latest venture

A better picture of the shop. I couldn't get rid of the one underneath it.

Kendall was listening to the radio one day and got this idea for aerial photography. We talked about it and thought it sounded like a fun business. The next thing I knew we had a new camera and a blimp. We even have a few people that are interested in some pictures!
Kendall and the blimp. Madeline has named her Isabelle.

Happy birthday!!!

Miss Madeline on her four wheeler.
The cousins.  Kodie was so cute with her helmet on.
Check out these siblings.  They get their good looks from me!  ;-)
This is when we gave Madeline her four wheeler.  She still has a lot to learn before we let her go out on her own.

Her princess cake!   I am just glad it turned out.  I was worried when she told me that was what she wanted.
She liked it too.
