July 2nd we attended the Freedom Festival with my brother Derek and his wife Stephanie and little bro Landen. We loaded up in the suburban... managed to get through the hour of Madeline trying understand adult things and being upset that she isn't old enough to do anything. Needless to say it was an hour of woe is Madeline. Hope fully they will still want kids after that. Sorry guys! It is a new phase we are in.
Anyway back to the freedom festival.
They had a small airshow, booths, food, and blow up toys. They also had Herbie! Yes the actual Herbie. Pretty exciting. Max is thrilled.
Much to Madeline's delight they had face painting. Madeline was so excited to have her face painted that she managed to stay in line for 20 minutes without whining. It was worth the wait... they were really good face painters.
Max played with the ducky pool for a long time. He loved it.
Derek and Stephanie.. for some reason we didn't get a picture of Landen.
The FOURTH OF JULY.
We had a wonderful Independence Day. We started at my parents house with a flag ceremony and breakfast. Which Kendall said was "the best Lane breakfast I have ever had". Go Lane family!
For the flag ceremony my dad read a childrens book from the 1950's that talked about the history of Independence Day. Then we sang "The Star Spangled Banner". At which point Max took it upon himself to fast forward the song so that we could eat breakfast sooner.
Priorities people.
Kendall and Aaron waiting for the ceremony to begin.
Sorry no breakfast pictures... we were too busy stuffing our faces.
After breakfast we lit some fireworks and used a bag of snaps.
Uncle Landen handing out the snaps.
At this point Landen says "I think you can snap these with your fingers, but I can't remember if it hurts or not".
Two seconds later we hear Max snap one .... IN HIS FINGERS.
Apparently it doesn't hurt.
Some sparklers.
And to complete the morning we have to ride a motorized vehicle.
Max LOVED it! Dad is happy.
Uncle Aaron took Madeline on a ride. She screamed the whole time. But secretly she loves it. I think.
Also this was a Fourth of July to remember because.....
Madeline FINALLY has a loose tooth!
Gracious we have waited a LONG time for that.
Later that evening we went to my grandparents house to watch the fireworks and have a barbecue. Which was delicious.
Max really enjoyed the fireworks and wanted to help light them. So helpful.
Happy Fourth of July!
Upcoming post......
